RoHS
We are fully compliant with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous
Substances), the directive established by the European Union in
2006. RoHS restricts the use of specific hazardous materials in
electronics and electrical products (EEE) found to be a pollutant in
landfills and dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during
manufacturing and recycling.
Substances banned under RoHS are lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium
(Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB),
polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and four phthalates (DEHP,
BBP, BBP, DIBP).
WEEE
Through RoHS, we also participate in WEEE (Waste from Electrical and
Electronic Equipment) mandating the proper treatment, recovery, and
recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. WEEE encourages
the design of electronic products with environmentally safe
recycling and recovery in mind. RoHS compliance dovetails into WEEE
by reducing the amount of hazardous chemicals used in electronics
manufacturing. RoHS regulates the hazardous substances used in the
manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), while WEEE
regulates the disposal of this same equipment.
REACH
We are certified REACH compliant (the Registration, Evaluation,
Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals). REACH addresses the
production and use of 197 Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and
their impact on human health and the environment. While RoHS
restricts substances present in electrical / electronic equipment
(wiring, components, circuit boards, displays, sub-assemblies,
cabling), REACH controls all chemicals that might be used in the
manufacturing of the product, including enclosures, brackets,
coatings, paints, solvents, and chemicals.
Conflict Minerals
We are committed to sourcing products and materials responsibly. In
particular, Semi Source is committed to never knowingly purchase
items containing tin, tantalum, tungsten, or gold (the “Conflict
Minerals”), that directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed
groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and adjoining
countries. Semi Source understands the important supporting role our
business community plays in helping to increase supply chain
transparency in the trade of Conflict Minerals.
